SFC League winners, Väsby 0-3 Syrianska FC
Väsby – And there’s number one! Peter Ijeh has double ended a 33-year wait for Syrianska FC as the Suryoye defeated Väsby with 0-3 at Vilundavallen and won the Superettan title. The team thereby completed an unprecedented lift to Allsvenskan.
The undisputed star of the show, Peter Ijeh struck twenty minutes before half time and scored his second 10 minutes before the restart to add to his fifteen goals of the season. The first came from the penalty spot while the second came when Saleh’s head ball reached Ijeh and he elegantly turned a defender before burying his shot into the far corner.
Väsby, whose main tactic was to sweep the ball wide to Elvis da Silva on the right wing, had more possession and shots on goal in first half. But Syrianska were more dangerous coming forward and Zatara was unlucky not to score, when his shot took a deflection off, forcing Rosendal into a difficult save.
Dwayne Miller made sure it wasn’t Väsby’s night when he pulled off a brilliant save from Alagie Sosseh just before the restart.
Syrianska FC came close moments later when Saleh’s shot from Ijeh’s cross was tipped over by Rosendal, and Miller did the same from Silva’s curling shot.
Syrianska FC soaked up the Väsby pressure and put the Superettan trophy beyond Sundsvall’s reach with thirty minutes remaining of the game when Saleh was set up on the left side and took a one touch before firing past Peter Rosendal.
After the final whistle, a visibly emotional Melkemichel. Melkemichel who made a landmark appearance for the club in tonight’s final – before going on the field and being honoured by the fans. He then joined Andreas Temiz and his players on stage to receive the big-earned ovations – the perfect end to a season that will long be remembered.
